NextRequest is rethinking the public records request process (commonly referred to as Freedom of Information Act) and we need your help scaling up. We’re a mission-driven company that brings user-centered design and cloud-based software to governments.
We’re currently a team of five who grew out of the Code for America fellowship. We’re looking for creative people who are excited about building tools to make the public sector more efficient, transparent, and responsive on a large scale.
Your primary role is Ruby on Rails development, but you should be willing to help the team solve bigger problems. We value collaboration, learning, and opportunities to grow. Most importantly, we’re looking for someone who is passionate and knowledgeable about their work, and excited about building civic technology.
We are looking for someone who can write well-tested and production-level code using Ruby on Rails. Your everyday job will be to help build new features and work on existing issues. You will meet regularly with the development team and help us design the architecture of the application, scope new features, and implement them. We have a lot of new features to build and we want to build them quickly with your help.
You will be joining the existing development team of two. We’re offering a full time position located in Durham, NC and are committed to a workplace that reflects our community. We especially encourage applicants who are underrepresented in the tech industry including women, people of color, and LGBTQ candidates.
