Last week I attended the Iron Yard Demo Day in Durham and was super-impressed by the apps the students had written in just 3 weeks. These folks are now hitting the job market and I wanted to make potential local employers aware.
I usually look for a few qualities in a junior dev hire: 1) demonstrated ability to learn, 2) demonstrated ability to produce under time constraints, and most importantly, 3) a willingness to invest in their own skills and continue to improve. I think it's worth contacting these folks if you're looking to invest in hiring a junior developer.
(BTW, I get nothing out of this other than the satisfaction of helping good people find jobs.)
